Benevolence Board Member – Volunteer Position

This is strictly a volunteer position serving on a three-person Benevolence Board. Board members work together to share responsibilities and support individuals and families in need within our church and community.

Time Commitment:
The time commitment for this role may vary from week to week. Some weeks may require little to no time, while other weeks may require more involvement depending on the volume and urgency of benevolence requests.

Oversight & Decision-Making:
This role operates under pastoral oversight and follows established benevolence policies and guidelines. Board members do not create policy but prayerfully and responsibly make decisions based on the policies already in place regarding the distribution of benevolence funds.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Reviewing benevolence applications and requests
  • Determining appropriate assistance based on policy (e.g., distributing gas and grocery gift cards, reviewing and approving bill-payment requests)
  • Participating in phone calls and occasional face-to-face meetings with individuals requesting assistance
  • Working collaboratively with other board members to ensure duties are shared fairly, consistently, and completed in a timely manner.

Qualifications:
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Demonstrates discretion, compassion, generosity and integrity
  • Comfortable communicating by phone and in person
  • Able to handle sensitive situations with wisdom and confidentiality
  • A regular attender/member of Freedom Church
  • Completed the Next Steps Course
  • A Believer 
  • A regular tither to Freedom Church

Application & Selection Process:
All applications must be submitted by March 23rd. Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview. Final selection will be made by our pastoral staff.
